چکیده

We examine the generation of a magnetic field in a solar-like star and its effects on the internal distribution of the angular velocity. We suggest that the evolution of a rotating star with magnetic fields leads to an equilibrium value of the differential rotation. This equilibrium is determined by the magnetic coupling, which favours a constant rotation profile, and meridional circulation which tends to build differential rotation. The global equilibrium stage is close to solid body rotation between about 0.7 and 0.2R⊙, in good agreement with helioseismic measurements.

Loss of angular momentum of magnetic Ap stars in the pre-main sequence phase

A model for rotation evolution of an intermediate mass star with the primordial magnetic field in the pre-main sequence (PMS) phase was developed. It takes into account the accretion of matter along the magnetic field lines, the stellar field-disk interaction and a magnetized wind. Variations of stellar moment of inertia were included based on evolutionary models of PMS evolution of such stars....

Presupernova Evolution of Differentially Rotating Massive Stars Including Magnetic Fields

As a massive star evolves through multiple stages of nuclear burning on its way to becoming a supernova, a complex, differentially rotating structure is set up. Angular momentum is transported by a variety of classic instabilities, and also by magnetic torques from fields generated by the differential rotation. We present the first stellar evolution calculations to follow the evolution of rotat...

Stellar evolution with rotation and magnetic fields: I. The relative importance of rotational and magnetic effects

We compare the current effects of rotation in stellar evolution to those of the magnetic field created by the Tayler instability. In stellar regions, where magnetic field can be generated by the dynamo due to differential rotation (Spruit 2002), we find that the growth rate of the magnetic instability is much faster than for the thermal instability. Thus, meridional circulation is negligible wi...

Stellar evolution with rotation and magnetic fields: III: The interplay of circulation and dynamo

We examine the effects of the magnetic field created by the Tayler–Spruit dynamo in differentially rotating stars. Magnetic fields of the order of a few 10 G are present through most of the stellar envelope, with the exception of the outer layers. The diffusion coefficient for the transport of angular momentum is very large and it imposes nearly solid body rotation during the MS phase. In turn,...

Stellar evolution with rotation and magnetic fields: II: General equations for the transport by Tayler–Spruit dynamo

We further develop the Tayler–Spruit dynamo theory, based on the most efficient instability for generating magnetic fields in radiative layers of differentially rotating stars. We avoid the simplifying assumptions that either the μ– or the T–gradient dominates, but we treat the general case and we also account for the nonadiabatic effects, which favour the growth of the magnetic field. The gene...
